We have been a long-time supporter of Leicestershire Cares and their Community Safety initiative, designed to give ex-offenders a second chance in life. We provide two week work placements where the offenders are supported by volunteer mentors who are trained Alltruck employees.
Our most recent placement was with Ethel (pictured left) who has just completed her two weeks with us under the mentorship of Jayne (right).
Our HR Manager Janine Borderick explained why this is a project we are so passionate about, “It is much more than just work experience. It all is about supporting people back onto the right track, building confidence in themselves and providing them with a reference for future employment. As a business it is a hugely rewarding experience for our mentors and we gain so much from new people coming in to the organisation”.
Ethel described her experience, “Since being given the opportunity to commence my work placement at Alltruck plc, I feel it has given me the confidence and ability to look forward to a positive future.”
It was a pleasure to have Ethel with us and we wish her every success for the future. To find out more about Leicestershire Cares please visit www.leicestershirecares.co.uk
