Hannah Sowerby-Hill has won Employee of the Month for September

As the one who usually conducts the Employee of the Month interviews and writes the blog posts about my colleagues, it’s a little strange to be writing a blog about myself – although I am really, really thrilled to have won Employee of the Month! Here goes…

I’m Hannah and I’m the Content Marketing Executive here at Alltruck plc. I joined the company just over four months ago at the start of June 2020.

This is my first ‘proper’ job after graduating in July 2019. Before Alltruck, I worked in an array of different roles within hospitality, tutoring, and picture framing – and after graduating I spent six-months driving around Europe with my partner in our self-converted campervan.

It was a strange time to join a new company as many of the staff were still on furlough or working from home due to the pandemic. At the time I joined there were only around four of us working in the office at Alltruck Nottingham where I am based, and the guys in the Nottingham Workshop and Alltruck2 Bodyshop (also based at Notts) were coming and going with furlough.

My introductions to the different sectors within Alltruck were conducted by Zoom, which actually worked really well as I could put faces to the names I’d been hearing, although it was very different to meeting everyone in person.

Now, I have met most people in the company across our four sites: Croft, Leicester (Rental), Loughborough, and of course Nottingham. During my interview I was told the people at Alltruck were lovely, but (really!) the people here at Alltruck are awesome and they make it such a great place to work!

As the Content Marketer, with the support and guidance of the Head of Sales, Josh Robinson, my job is to come up with new content ideas and bring them to life. Whether it be a video, interview, blog post, case study, campaign (like the National Lorry Week one that’s running at the moment), social media post, infographic or print advert – I get to design and create them! I love that I can use my creativity to support a great company who are continually investing in their people and their growth.

I was nominated for Employee of the Month by David Halliday, Alltruck’s General Manager, who said:

I would like to nominate Hannah for Employee of the Month in September. Hannah has made such a positive impact on both our internal communications and external Social Media.  Hannah you’re doing a fantastic job, well done! I look forward to what you will be working on over the next 6 months.

Our Managing Director, Paul Robinson, who has the final vote on who’s Employee of the Month added:

September’s Employee of the Month Award goes to an individual who has for several months now shown great initiative, creativity and flair and as a result has produced some stunning work. Hannah Sowerby-Hill joined Alltruck only a few months ago, it is your first ‘proper job’ and you are making a great impact. Congratulations Hannah you are Alltruck’s Employee of the Month for September.

Reading these makes me very proud to be part of team Alltruck – thank you Paul and David for your lovely words!

The charity I have chosen to donate my £125 reward to is Brinsley Animal Rescue. As a huge animal lover (and dog and horse owner myself), I really admire the work that Brinsley Animal Rescue does to keep their horses, pigs, cows, ducks, dogs, and all their other animals safe and sound.

Brinsley Animal Rescue is a Registered Charity founded by Jon Beresford and Bethan Hewis. It’s run for animals, by volunteers. Beth and Jon met in 2001 and share a passion for animals. They started by volunteering for the Charities Animal Accident Rescue Unit and Prevent Unwanted Pets and soon found their house in West Bridgford full of rescued pets and wild animals. They now have a four-acre property in Brinsley, Nottinghamshire, and have expanded to take on farm animals, as well as pets and wild animals.

The only support the rescue receives is from their volunteers and public donations, so if you’d like to donate to Brinsley Animal Rescue, please click here.
