Leicestershire Care’s 2023 Awards

We’re so proud of Chris Oakes, who works with us at Alltruck plc, for winning two awards at Leicestershire Care’s charity 2023 awards and celebration night. Not only did he win an award for his great support of Leicestershire Care’s work with care-experienced young people but also was made Volunteer of the Year 2023! Awesome!

Kieran Breen, Leicestershire Cares’ CEO, said “We’ve always had a good relationship with Alltruck, but since he became our ‘Champion’ at Alltruck, Chris has shown passion, determination and creativity in enabling his colleagues to support our education, youth and community projects. He’s also been willing to step up and share his skills and knowledge with young people and other business partners. In doing so, he’s been a real inspiration and we’re looking forward to partnering with Chris and his colleagues at Alltruck in the years to come.

Accepting the award Chris said, “At a personal level I get a lot out of volunteering with Leicestershire Cares, and Alltruck are committed to building on our partnership so we can do even more to support young people and community groups.

Alltruck employees make donations to the ‘Home Starter Kits’, part of the Making Moves project working with young people who are homeless. These young people are starting from scratch and have nothing to help them get off the ground running. Anything at all, no matter how small it seems to you, is a big thing for someone starting a new life from scratch.

We are running a Christmas raffle where customers, staff and the business donate a prize and all ticket costs go to Leicestershire Cares. We also take part in the Bags of Hope festive campaign which gifts reusable tote bags filled with festive treats to local disadvantaged individuals and families. And the Eggstravaganza campaign collecting chocolate eggs and Easter craft kits for disadvantaged children, families and communities groups who are at risk of being left behind.

One Alltruck volunteer has acted as a mock interviewer to help students develop their confidence and key skills and another as an independent visitor with Leicestershire Cares and Leicestershire County Council.

Leicestershire Cares is a charity that brokers partnerships and creates opportunities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that enable the business sector to understand community needs, contribute to the growth of inclusive and safe communities, and to support and inspire children and young people in their transition to the workplace.

We are proud to support Leicetsershire Cares and thank them for recognising the work our Awesome Alltruckers do for the charity.
