HGV MOT Driver / Presenter

Full time – 40 hours per week between 7am & 4pm to suit the operation| Permanent
Pay: £14.33 per hour

Role Mission

The mission of the MOT Driver / Presenter is to take ownership of the MOT presentation process from yard to test station, ensuring every vehicle is checked, prepared, presented professionally and represented with pride. This is not a traditional driving job. The successful person will be the face of Alltruck at the test station, building strong relationships with MOT testers while protecting the quality, reputation and compliance standards of the business.

What Success Looks Like

The right person will consistently deliver the following:

1. Reliable MOT presentation: Collect vehicles from our yards and present up to two vehicles per day at the test station, on time, prepared and ready for inspection.
2. First-time quality mindset: Complete driver checks and basic pre-MOT observations so that vehicles are not presented if they are obviously unlikely to pass.
3. Practical mechanical contribution: Use basic mechanical knowledge to identify obvious defects and carry out simple tasks such as adjusting headlights, changing bulbs and retorquing wheels where required.
4. Professional test-station relationships: Build rapport with MOT testers and represent Alltruck positively, calmly and helpfully at all times.
5. Pride and ownership: Treat every vehicle, yard movement and test presentation as a reflection of personal standards and Alltruck’s reputation.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect vehicles from the feeder yard and safely deliver them to the MOT test station.
• Present vehicles for MOT and support the process professionally from arrival to completion.
• Carry out daily driver checks and basic condition checks before vehicles are taken for test.
• Spot obvious defects or concerns and raise them before a vehicle is presented.
• Carry out simple practical tasks where competent, including bulb changes, headlight adjustments and wheel retorquing.
• Support weight testing and other preparation tasks linked to the MOT process.
• Maintain good communication with internal teams and MOT station contacts.
• Take pride in vehicle presentation, safe handling and the smooth running of the MOT schedule.
• Be flexible and willing to help where needed, with a “will do anything for anyone” attitude.

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role would suit an experienced driver, technician or mechanically minded transport professional who wants a varied role with real responsibility. You may have spent time around commercial vehicles, workshops, MOT processes or yard operations and enjoy being practical, organised and trusted to get things done properly.

You do not need to be an MOT tester, but you should have enough mechanical awareness to recognise when something is clearly wrong and enough pride in your work to avoid presenting a vehicle that is unlikely to pass. A forklift truck licence would be an advantage.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience driving and handling vehicles safely and professionally.
• Class 1 License
• Basic mechanical knowledge and confidence around vehicle checks.
• Ability to complete driver checks accurately and consistently.
• Practical skills such as changing bulbs, adjusting headlights and retorquing wheels.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with MOT testers.#
• A responsible, can-do attitude and willingness to help the team.
• FLT licence advantageous, but not essential.
