HGV Body Builder

Due to expansion, we are looking to bring a new body builder into the business. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to make their next move in their engineering career, bringing your knowledge into a team that can’t wait for you to start!

The Challenge

You will play a major part in the building and repair of Alltruck’s brilliant trucks and light commercial vehicles. You will know your way round a truck and have excellent building and repair techniques up your sleeve. High standards means everything to you, always thinking about the quality of the outcome of your labour and always giving due regard to best practice, health and safety and legal requirements.

We are looking for somebody who will proactively get involved with every aspect of the build phase, supporting our customers, driving operationally excellent processes, and always supporting our culture of continuous improvement.

So, are you the right candidate?

We are looking for our new body builder to be:

  • A collaborative worker, always seeking thoughts and opinions from both colleagues and customers, multitasking whilst under pressure will be essential.
  • Have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to look ahead to avoid issues.
  • Communication and negotiation skills, to use both in house and with external customers and suppliers, a keen commercial awareness is key.
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings, applying the relevant processes from your interpretation of the drawings.
  • To be flexible, always willing to learn, develop, and support others with their learning.
  • To be curious, brave, aware and a keen eye for detail with the ability to look ahead to avoid issues.
  • Have the safety of yourself and your colleagues at the forefront of your mind.
  • Happy to embrace the ‘can do’ culture, there’s none of this ‘that’s not in my job description’ here.

You’ll really hit the ground running if you have:

  • Motor Trade experience, ideally in commercial vehicle body building, repair or construction
  • A Class 1 or 2 HGV Driving Licence
  • Welding experience, ideally coded welding, and experience of working with both steel and aluminum.
  • A Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck Licence

  • Follow instructions given by Bodyshop management.
  • To achieve the required level of productivity.
  • To achieve the required level of quality.
  • To inform your supervisor in a timely manner of the anticipated completion time of the current job.
  • To inform the purchasing team of any special items needed for your job at the earliest opportunity.
  • To re-work, without question, any job deemed to be of poor quality by Bodyshop management.
  • To pay due diligence to tools and equipment supplied by the company.
  • To work with safety in mind.
  • To complete clock cards, timesheets and parts list as instructed by the company.
  • To operate a good housekeeping policy.
  • Hours of work 7am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, inclusive of 30 minutes unpaid meal break
