Alltruck awarded the Investors in People Gold Standard

East Midlands based commercial vehicle contract hire company, Alltruck plc, has joined an elite group of UK businesses in being awarded the Investors in People Gold Standard. The truck and van rental provider – with locations in Leicester, Loughborough and Nottingham – joins a select group of only 1053 companies who have achieved the standard, with just 53 in the East Midlands.

Alltruck plc has been an accredited Investor in People since 2004 and during their recent re-accreditation, the assessors were so impressed with the business’ people-focussed culture, they awarded the organisation the highest level of the standard.

Judged on criteria including leadership style, development opportunities and employee engagement, the awarding body remarked, “Alltruck plc continually endeavours to embrace change and reinvent itself by adopting latest thinking in business techniques and by having continuous high performance in people engagement and involvement. The company does have a clear road map of the route for the future evidenced in the Ambition, Vision, Mission, Values and Balanced Scorecards. People believe Alltruck is a great place to work.”

Alltruck plc HR Manager, Janine Borderick, explained why these criteria are so important for the business, “We operate in a competitive market and it is only through a talented and motivated group of employees that we can truly differentiate ourselves from the competition. That’s why we put our focus on developing an environment and culture where people can flourish.”

As part of this commitment Alltruck plc established an in-house training school in 2016 – the Alltruck Academy – and appointed a dedicated Training Manager. In its first three months the Alltruck Academy has seen 60% of the workforce complete 578 hours of training.

Alongside training and development, in the last twelve months Alltruck plc has invested over £1 million in office and workshop improvements across all three sites.

Away from the office the business has an employee-led approach to Corporate Social Responsibility, allowing employees to steer the CSR direction of the business. This is clear in the employee of the month scheme, where the winner each month receives £250 to donate to a charity of their choice. Furthermore, Alltruck has twice been awarded Leicestershire Cares’ Company of the Year – a charity which puts businesses in touch with community schemes throughout the region, including learning support in schools, work placements for ex-offenders and community regeneration projects.

Janine Borderick continued, “It’s all about creating an environment where employees can develop and grow, not only as professionals but also as people. Our work in the community is a big part of that. Employees spend 40 hours a week striving to deliver the highest levels of customer service and we want that 40 hours to be a positive and enriching experience for all.”

Alltruck plc Managing Director, Paul Robinson, concluded, “We are immensely proud to be awarded the Investors in People Gold. It is a massive endorsement of our desire to become the employer of choice within our industry; where everyone can flourish and achieve their potential.”
